In the state of Washington, there were a group of high school football officials who thought it would be a nice charity idea to wear pink charity whistles to support breast cancer awareness. They would donate their game checks to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
This idea didn't get the support it hoped for. The Washington Officials Association threatened to ban two games and even take two of the games checks. The WOA was upset because they didn't ask for permission and didn't want to send the wrong message to kids.
I completely disagree with the Washington Officials Association for being angry about this charity event. Breast cancer is a huge risk to women and some men today. Doctors and scientists need all the money they can get to finding a cure for this disease. My great grandma and great aunt both had breast cancer. They both died from this disease. It takes millions of women's lives each year and devestates so many people all around the globe.
