Santa leaving broken hearts.

Everyone in America is well aware of the hard economic times we are facing. Even the Santa's at the malls are in the zone with this as well. The Santa's at Department stores and Malls have been trained this year to not get kids hopes up for gifts this year. Instead of telling them that they will get the present they want, they will tell them that they probably won't get that and will tell them to ask for something else.
I know we are in hard times, but I don't think we need to start letting kids hopes up. At the Brandon Mall; the Santa this year has been known to send every kid back to their parents in tears. He tells those kids that they won't be getting the present they want this year. That's just terrible. It's a killer to the Christmas spirit and is diminishing the belief in those kids of Santa.
At this rate, we might as well just tell children that there is no Santa Claus and we are suffering from a terrible economic depression.

  1. Whoa! Sad story, Addie. I've always believed that Santa was our "Saint Nicholas" who could find a way to bring help & joy to others through selfless giving! Well, maybe the "economy is bad, but our spirits are GOOD! A hug...a handmade card or small gift to let someone know they are loved...what more do we need!!! Shame on the Brandon Mall. I will NOT shop there when I come to visit Florida next week! Love, California Grandma
