"The stars are always there, but we miss them in the dirt and clouds. We miss them in the storms. Tell them to remember hope. We have hope."

When I hear people joke around about cutting and killing themselves, it’s almost like a pierce to the heart. What most people don’t know about me and would have never guessed was, that just one year ago, I was in a dark place. I suffered with what psychologists call “Major Suicidal Depression”. People at school would have never guessed. I put on the fake smile and acted like my life was perfect when it was the exact opposite.
There's an organization designed to help people who suffer with depression, addiction, self- harm, and suicide; it's name is To Write Love on Her Arms. There are 121 million people worldwide that suffer from depression and I'm not afraid to say that I was one of them. The past couple years, I was in a dark place from experiencing child abuse from my mother. The organization TWLOHA had helped me a lot. With attempts of suicide I was forced to call the suicide hotline and I'm lucky to say I'm still alive today.
Depression, addiction, self-harm, and suicide can all be serious matters that can cause death one way or another. There was that point in my life where I felt rejected from society and felt that no one cared. I had to remember that God loved me and there were people around me that loved me. Love is the greatest remedy out of all things and can help you get out of your "funk". I encourage you to please talk to someone if you are depressed or struggling with an addiction. Death is not the answer and overcoming your obstacles will just make you that much stronger of a person.
